It is my pleasure to participate in Art At The Source (AATS) during the weekend of June 4/5 and 11/12 of this year. AATS is an open studio event put on by the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.
Craig Mitchell has been kind enough to have me as a guest artist in his MC2 studio behind Graton Ridge Cellars in Graton.
I’m looking forward to your feedback on my latest winter inspired, black and white, Tree series and Storm series.
On a rainy February 17th I had the honor of hanging my work at Rochioli winery, home of my favorite Pinot.
On my way to hang artwork I was yet again reminded of the ever-changing landscape of Sonoma County. Looking in one direction I could see the snow caped mountains in the distance, in the other direction, the usual distant horizon was obscured by low fog. It was magical, a perfect day to hang new series, Tree and Storm.
Both series represent the winter wonderland we enjoy here.
Tree, represents how the fog can wall us in making a quiet space and hushing, softening the sounds of the world.
Storm, represents the ominousness and humbling nature of a vast winters sky as the large, damp, grey clouds lumber beyond our realm.
In the next few weeks blue skies and brilliant yellow rays will break through thick billows of winter clouds, tugging bright green growth from the earth. I hope you have the opportunity to witness and enjoy this transformation out of winter. We are so lucky to live here.
Thank you to Victoria Stone for coordinating the Rochioli event. I will be at Rochioli to answer questions and taste as much Pinot as they’ll let me on Saturday, March 19th, from 2pm to 4pm.
I hope to see you there.
I will begin 2011 with a show at Rochioli Winery from February 17, – March 30, 2011. I am especially proud to be hosted at Rochioli Winery, an esteemed vineyard in our county known for its silky smooth Pinot Noir. If we are lucky there will still be 2008 Pinot available in February…so good that it sells out quick. More likely, we can look forward to the barrel tasting. Did I mention their 2004 Pinot is my all time favorite?
Just before opening at Rochioli my work will be auctioned at the 12th Annual Animal Art Show and Benefit, Paws for Love on Saturday, February 12, 2011. This is an exciting community event! The proceeds benefit the Paws for Love Foundation which provides resources and funding to shelters, rescue groups, and individuals dedicated to improving the health, welfare, and adopt-ability of unwanted and abused animals. Besides the good cause of this event – the auction is not to be missed! The prizes are phenomenal; featuring fantastic wines, and a variety of sensational gifts and services donated from local artists, merchants and friends of Paws for Love from coast to coast!
Next, I hope to be included in the 14th annual Iron Stone Vineyards art competition in Murphys, CA from March 5 to May 11. More on this later…
Thank you to everyone who came to the studio! I was prepared to spend some ‘quiet time’ between visitors, but you kept me busy and I appreciate it.
To the many folks who purchased paintings – thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my work.
I received many generous comments on my newest series; Meadow in Mist 36″ x 36″, Cottage in Mist and Tree in Mist. The latter two now owned by collectors. More of these to come. For those of you who ordered prints, they will be delivered by the week of December 20th, 2010. So you will here from me…
The holiday season is fast approaching and my wife and I are expecting our first baby sometime at the end of December. Therefore, I expect to be taking much of January off to get acquainted with my favorite work of art.
Thank you again for allowing me to share my work and offering me the opportunity to see and understand my work through your perspectives. Your generosity is most appreciated.
This is my first year participating in Art Trails and I am very excited! I have already had my first visitors and thoroughly enjoyed sharing my process.
The studio will be open Saturday/Sunday October 9/10 and 16/17 from 10am to 5pm so come on by.
For more information, check out the Art Trails web site.
On Saturday, September 25th, 2010, you can find me at the 4th annual Healdsburg Arts Festival. From 10 – 5 there will be food, wine, a kid’s art area, and art from 75 (mostly local) artists on the Plaza in Healdsburg.
